He was admitted in the isolation ward of the New Civil hospital (NCH) after he complained of severe cough, cold and fever on Tuesday. His samples were sent for testing at the NCH and that they are positive of Covid-19.
Sources said that the D-Mart store at Pandesara where the Covid-19 positive man worked was forced to shut down on Wednesday evening. About 100 staff workers at the store have been shifted to government quarantine facility.
A senior health officer said, “The man worked at the D-Mart store and that he may have come in contact with Covid-19 positive person. We are yet to ascertain how many people visited at the superstore and with whom this man came in contact. However, we have shifted about 10 close contacts from his family to the government quarantine facility”
He added, “About 100 employees and other staff members working at D-Mart have been shifted to quarantine facility for 14 days.’
Meanwhile, a 36-year-old woman from Choriyasi taluka in Surat district was tested positive of COVID-19. The woman having travel history to Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh has been admitted in the isolation ward of the New Civil Hospital.

The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) authorities visited our Isana Store, Surat (Althan Locality) today and informed us about one of our employee being a suspected Covid-19 positive case. The concerned employee is admitted at the hospital and is currently doing well.
We have cooperated with the authorities and have closed our store as per their advice. We still await to officially get conformation of the test result. We are providing all the necessary information and help as directed by the authorities. As an extreme preventive and cautious measure, we will keep our store closed.
The employee last came to the store on March 28, 2020 and has been on leave from March 29, 2020.
